Giving back to the community through work experience and apprenticeships holds a paramount significance to Leaves. We view these initiatives not only as a responsibility but as a cornerstone of their corporate ethos.
By providing opportunities for work experience and apprenticeships, Leaves not only imparts valuable skills and knowledge to aspiring individuals but also invests in the community's future workforce.

These initiatives foster a sense of inclusivity, empowerment, and economic growth within the local community. Leaves firmly believes that by nurturing talent and offering hands-on experience, they contribute to the development of a skilled workforce, ultimately strengthening the community and ensuring a brighter future for generations to come. In doing so, Leaves not only excels as a construction company but also as a responsible corporate citizen committed to the betterment of society.
RESPONSIBILITY
Leaves are a socially responsible organisation and we are fully committed to supporting the entry of young people into the construction industry to provide a sustainable supply of skilled labour.
Leaves prides itself on its inclusive practices and we are guided by our values in everything we do.
Being a diverse and inclusive employer enables us to fulfil our responsibility of making a difference to people’s everyday lives through our work and culture.
Apprenticeships are a core part of this commitment.
As an SME, we strive to offer at least one Apprenticeship each year, with at least two Apprentices working with us concurrently. These were delivered via Chichester and Highbury Colleges.
INCLUSIVITY
We aim to target our Apprenticeship opportunities to address the needs of the most disadvantaged groups and deprived communities. We also aim to engage with underrepresented diverse groups within the industry including females, Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and underprivileged groups including those ‘Not in Education, Employment, or Training’ (NEETs) to help break the benefit cycle and promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

We achieve this through pro-active engagement with a range of employment initiatives that promote employment within local communities including:
-
MyFutures Apprenticeship
-
Job Retention Bonus Scheme
-
Kickstart Scheme
-
Construction Talent Retention Scheme
-
Prince’s Trust/Manpower Joint Venture
-
Job Centre Plus
-
Youth Employment UK
-
Career Transition Partnership
DEVELOPMENT
Leaves offers both mandatory and optional learning, development and training as part of its ongoing offer to all direct employees. This ensures that all staff, regardless of characteristics, background or experience have access to the tools, training and support they need to do their jobs.
Our optional learning units included unconscious bias training, tailored inductions prior to commencement of works with customers (for example, Induction training is provided before our staff are able to work in Schools or with vulnerable individuals). This training is provided in-house and is ad-hoc, dependent on the needs of both our clients and staff.
Our mandatory training and qualifications cover a range of activity, such as SMSTS, IOSH, Asbestos awareness, working at height, manual handling and H&S awareness
SOCIAL VALUES
Our Resident Liaison Officer (RLO) adopts ownership of our Social Value Programme in each area we cover, coordinating and monitoring activity against the required outputs.

Social Value Programme, commitments are established against each area using a Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timebound (SMART) methodology to promote accountability.

Performance against our commitments can be reported through metrics that best suit our clients requirements, including the National Themes Outcomes and Measures (TOMS) framework.
